Other projects
Besides games, BlindGames maintains a few free and open-source accessibility tools for blind users, starting with add-ons for the NVDA screen reader. They are kept up to date with the latest NVDA versions.
NVDA add-ons
An add-on extends NVDA for a specific application. Download the file, open it with NVDA, confirm the installation and restart NVDA.
Audacity: accessibility enhancement
Makes the Audacity audio editor (Audacity 3 and Audacity 4) much easier to use with NVDA: announcement of the audio position and of the selection, state of the playback, meter levels, and enhanced editing of the time controls.
Current version: 4.0 (released on 2026-09-25). NVDA versions 2025.1 – 2026.2, Audacity 3.7.x.
Automatic updates
The add-ons published here check this site for a new version once a day, shortly after NVDA starts, and offer to install it. This can be disabled in each add-on’s settings.
